Abstract

The development concepts have developed greatly in the last twenty years. These concepts agreed upon that the development is a plan or a set of time plans which purpose is raising the social, economic, cultural and political level of the human element. The human element is the target and the mean of achieving development. A lot of people think that the purpose of development of heritage areas depend on preserving monuments as a tourist requirement to prepare it as a shrine which has a positive effect on the economy, and doesn’t include the development of the urban areas surrounding monuments and revitalize it economically, socially and culturally. It's better to develop these areas through integrated system which includes the social and economic structure of area besides development of urban texture with all surrounding urban environment components, with the need to participate in the development of society to feel the value of heritage which he lives in and his great role in preserving, develop and flourish it. The path of the Holy Family is considered one of the most important archaeological areas that can be benefited and studied how to develop especially Assiut Governorate. Mount Qasqam “The Muharraq Monastery is considered one of the most important stations in which the Holy Family settled, so the research focuses on how to revive and develop the path of the Holy Family in the governorate. The research paper has the concept of development, urban development and its objectives, studying the path of holy family in Assiut, the points they went through and some of similar experiences locally, arabic and internationally to get benefit in developing the path. It has also a visual and urban study of the holy family path in Assiut which starts with Muharraq Monastery of Qusiya and ends with Dronka Monastery in the west mountain, through field visits, to reach the results and recommendations to revive and develop the holy family path in the governorate
